The system is capable of monitoring an entire factory yet, if required, is flexible and economical enough to be utilised on certain key processes. Additional modules can be cost effectively added at a later date.
“The choice is really up to the customer” commented Ian Baker of Garnett Controls, “The Mill Wizard system is very cost effective because of its modular configuration. This means the customer only pays for what he wants to monitor and not for loads of capacity he won’t use.”
Mill Wizard operates a secure real time data collection system from discretely positioned sensors on production machines. Information is displayed on a central computer or network and can be customised to suit individual preferences.
The monitoring system operates around the clock as a paperless management tool, with hard copy print outs available as required. The system runs without local operator input and is being used both as a production check and as a motivational tool to improve productivity and efficiencies.
The hardware is based on well proven components which are industrially robust and the information is displayed in a user friendly manner.
Mick Cresswell of Spectrum Yarns, Huddersfield commented;
“The Mill Wizard has helped improve efficiencies from a low 70% to over 90% with no extra effort other than using the information from the system to help improve stopped time, then analysing the information and implementing further procedures to deal with events that occurred but were avoidable. The Mill Wizard now plays a huge part in the control of lost time, now virtually non existent. It is like an extra pair of eyes and ears.”
Mr Dissanayaka of Westwood yarns commented;
“The initial installation has been so successful that we have recently expanded it and we are now monitoring 19 machines so far including our Superba lines where we monitor temperature, pressure, the opening and closing of steam valves, speed and production details.”
