Equi-pF International Product Launch at AGU Fall Meeting 2004
Equi-pF, the result of a collaboration between Landcare Research New Zealand Limited and Streat Instruments Limited was launched at the AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco.
In conjunction with the Equi-pF Product Launch, the Equi-pF research collaborators from Oregon State University (Prof Jeff McDonnell, Kellie Vache and Chris Graham displayed a poster session detailing the validation tests they have carried out over the previous year.
These tests were based on comparisons of Equi-pF results with published Accusand data for various grades of Accusands - in addition they compared Equi-pF results with Eijelkamp Sand Table tests for a number of core samples taken from the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest.
In addition to performing the tests faultlessly the flexibility offered by the Equi-pf system illustrated to the reserachers at OSU that in addition to the measurement of the standard soil moisture release characteristics of soil, Equi-pf allows researchers to delve deeper and investigate other soil properties including:
- The effects of temperature on the moisture characteristics of soil
- Soil moisture characteristics of swelling soils under over-burden pressures
- The effect of reference point on moisture release properties
- Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity and diffusivity of soil near saturation
- The effect of sample height on moisture release curve properties
- Soil water storage hysteresis characteristics
- DNAPL contaminant analysis
- Analysis of air entrapment effects on moisture release
Equi-pf is available for commercial release from the middle of 2005!
