Typical Moisture Related Problems
Without a moisture system most processors over-dry product to avoid excess moisture content. This results in excess energy usage and reduced dryer throughput. Poor product quality and problems in future processing are often results of over-drying. The processor will sometimes produce product with excess moisture content, this results in re-drying which reduces productivity.

Advantages Offered by a Streat Moisture System
By applying a Streat Moisture system to their towelling process the processor can address all of the problems in the previous section.

We have received reports of productivity gains in excess of 20% as the result of the implementation of a Streat Moisture system.

Application of the Streat Moisture Meter
Usually cotton towelling dryers process a number of strips of towel of varying widths, weights and colours through the dryer at the same time.

Our System can be configured for 1,2 or 3 moisture sensors which can be positioned across the width of the dryer.

Moisture Control System
By using a Streat Moisture Controller we can offer either energy control (using the Streat Moisture Controller) or speed control (using the Streat Moisture Meter with Integrated Speed Control) of the dryer. The normal method of control for towelling dryers is to control the dryer speed.

Dryer Types
We can apply our system to a number of different dryer types. Some examples are given below:

Can Dryers:
This type of dryer consists of a number of solid heated cylinders (or cans). The towelling wraps around these cans as it passes through the dryer.

Stenter/Tenter Dryers:
In these dryers the heated air is forced through the towelling as it passes through the dryer.

Loop Dryers:
In this type of dryer the towelling is looped over hangers which pass slowly through the dryer. These dryers have very long residence times, usually in the order of 40 - 45 minutes.

There is often an Inspection Frame at the exit of the dryer. This is an ideal location for the Moisture Meter Sensor(s).
