IWS RECOMMENDATIONS
The
International Wool Secretariat recommends the following method for
drying Superwash sliver after it emerges from the treatment bowls.
Most processors use a Two Zone Dryer.
Both zones should be controlled by a Streat Moisture Controller.
The
temperature in the first zone should not be allowed to rise above 60
degrees Celsius. Higher temperatures may 'shock' the fibre making it
unworkable for future processing.
The
target regain at the dryer exit should be 8-10% to ensure that adequate
curing of the resin has occurred and also to give the best post-dryer
gilling results
